I have another date story that is funny now, but at the time I was totally humiliated. The summer that I was fourteen we went to California to visit relatives and we went to the beach one day. There was a show called,"The Groovy Show" and they filmed it on the beach, featuring performers and playing the latest hits and had a bunch of kids dancing in their bathing suits for a backdrop. A quite nice looking guy asked me if I would dance and I accepted. Well, the dancing started and this guy suddenly turned into James Brown, whirling, doing splits, waving his arms...and he was doing it VERY badly! If it was possible to die of embarrassment, they could have dug a hole in the sand and buried me right there. Fortunately, the guy was such a horrendous dancer the cameras didn't linger on us...
