Default Lung Cancer

Hi,

Cancer of the lung, like all cancers, results from an abnormality in the body's basic unit of life, the cell. Normally, the body maintains a system of checks and balances on cell growth so that cells divide to produce new cells only when new cells are needed. Disruption of this system of checks and balances on cell growth results in an uncontrolled division and proliferation of cells that eventually forms a mass known as a tumor.

Default lung lesions

If a lung lesion is found to be cancerous, does that mean you have lung cancer or is it a type of cancer that is isolated and can be removed?

Heather, it really depends on the type of lung cancer. Some can be removed if it's localized. If the cancer has spread, there are other therapies that may help. I would consult a specialist. I am a board member of Lung Cancer Canada, a not-for-profit organization in promoting education, support and awareness. We are also trying to raise funding for more research in lung cancer. We have a new website that will be launched next week. In the meantime please visit our site: www.lungcancercanada.ca

We are also on Facebook and Twitter.

Tyson, guessing and worrying will not help but increase anxiety. It's better to go to your doctor right away and get it checked out!
