Default Lifetime of sleeping issues

I have some major sleep problems and am hoping someone can help me out. I am 45 and have always had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep.I don't think I have slept for more than five hours in a night in many years. It takes me about two hours to fall asleep. this is an improvement on what it used to be. I wake up about every 15 minutes. On the average night I wake up about 25 times. I toss and turn and try to find another position to sleep in.

I know all about proper sleep methods (ie no caffeine, darkness, etc) and have tried them all. I have tried meletonin but didn't see any results. Several years ago I tried different presciption meds that worked for a while but then lost their effectiveness. Due to certain presciption medicines I take I can not take most sleeping aids. If I take gravol before bed it helps me fall asleep but doesn't help with the staying asleep. Gravol loses its effectiveness too. I find myself taking 6 or 7 every night. I doubt this is good for me but I need some sleep.

Does anyone have any suggestions?????
