ive been having chest pains with pain in my left arm since june. the pain is sometimes felt in my neck and below the left eye.also recently a pulsing feeling in my right leg.
i went to emergency and had a EKG? and a chest x-ray done. they told me that i wasnt having a heart attack and hadnt had one either in the past.
i went to the doctor's a couple of days ago and he said that my blood pressure was slightly higher than last year.
im not sure if i should be ignoring the pain or keep going to the doctor's. he didnt really seem too concerned about it.
is this a warning sign of a possible future heart attack.
i've been thinking that i should take aspirin once a day.
Regarding your blood pressure being higher, that could be "white coat" syndrome I think, which means it rises when you go to the doctor's office.
Have you considered a second opinion? On one hand, it seems like good news that you've been told nothing's wrong, but I'd also still be concerned about the pain.
A second opinion is a good thing if you're left with concerns after talking to your Doctor. Perhaps you might ask him for a referral to a neurologist. I think you may be feeling some "nerve" problems.
How often are the pains? Do they happen when you are doing something stressful or could you be straining (lifting)? If you feel it is a problem with your heart you might be right and you should ask your doctor about a monitor. I had a friend who insisted on more and was sent to the hospital to pick up a monitor she wore for a week and kept a record of her activities to go with it and then the hospital was able to read her events of pain. She only ended up having something similar to a heart murmur that supposedly was there all her life but had been more noticable due to age. Something she needs to watch but wil have a normal life otherwise.
I hope that could be all it would be at most or as suggested some nerve problems. Also what about bloating? not that I think this is what it is but if someone starts having gas problems due to stomach issues the pains can hit in the shoulder area similar to a symptom of heart attack. I learned this because when I had my galbladder out, the first thing they tell you after the laproscoptomy is "we put air in your abdomen and if you feel a pain in your upper chest or shoulder it is a reaction of the air pressure not having left your abdomen yet so don't worry, let us know" I felt it later on in the day and it left. Supposedly the pressure in the gut sends a pain on a nerve path that most people feel in the shoulder or upper chest. Good luck with it and ask for the machine if still worried.
Heart disease is some what related to your hereditary. If your father or grand father had heart disease then there is more than 50& chances that you will be get it in your old age.
